Personal Reaction by Shannon Houle to Feb 7 2014 Harper Speech on First Nations Education
"My heart and my mind said I needed to speak up for our future generations"
This is only my personal reflection from my perspective of my experience while attending the event as Chief proxy for Saddle Lake Cree Nation.
I felt it important to record this as a personal journal or record.

The Wolves assist in Creating Balance & Give Life to Others
For years I was lost for guidance and my true path; however, on my search of self discovery I was given my Indian Name. My name guides me, strengthens me, and gives me direction...

I’m so grateful and honoured the ancestors can find me know when I am in a place of meditation.
Wolves are key to the balance of the ecosystem and give life to others. Who would have thought, that most people think of the wolf as a killer, predator but it’s so much more...
It has a major purpose to the balance of nature...
It’s loyal, mates for life, shares in the upbringing of young in a pack, hunt in packs, strategic, and more...

I am humbled, honoured, and thankful to be gifted with this name...it is who I am!
"Spirit of the wolf,
You who wanders the wild lands,
You who stalks in silent shadows,
You who runs and leaps,
Between moss-covered trees,
Lend me your primal strength,
And the wisdom of your glowing eyes,
Teach me to relentlessly track my desires,
And to stand in defense of those love,
Show me the hidden paths and moonlit fields,
Fierce spirit, Walk with me in my solitude,
Howl with me in my joy and guard me,
As I move through this world.”
